Check out this page about RWS’s support policy for different versions of Trados Studio. In alignment with RWS’s support policy,
Studio 2019 will be continue to be supported until 31 December 2022;
Studio 2017 has reached its end of life and is not supported any more.
Installing the Globalese plugin for Trados Studio
Download and install the Globalese plugin for Trados Studio just like any other Studio plugin: download it from the RWS App Store and run the installer. After installing the Globalese plugin, a new batch task becomes available in Studio, which can be applied to both projects and files, just like the default batch tasks (e.g. Pre-translate Files).
Pre-translating files with Globalese from Trados Studio
The plugin only works via a HTTPS connection.
Navigate to the project or file you want to pre-translate with Globalese.
Select Globalese Translation from the Batch Tasks menu to apply the task to specific files or to the entire project.
Find the project file in the Select sdlproj file field.
Once the project file has been selected in the Select sdlproj file field, enter the configuration details.
The Globalese server URL can be retrieved from the About menu (the right side of the footer in Globalese). The user name and API key can be retrieved from your user profile (<user name> → Profile).
If you require a proxy server, you also need to check the Use proxy server box, then enter the proxy server details.
Click the Connect button.
The list of groups will be populated. Choose a group from the Select group drop-down list.
For each project target language, select the Globalese engine you want to use for pre-translation. If a language should not be translated, just leave the Engine drop-down list empty.
The language/engine assignments will be shown in the text field below the language / engine table.
Click Finish to start the translation process. Note: by default, Globalese projects, which are generated in the background on the Globalese server, will be deleted from Globalese after the translated files have been downloaded to your Studio project.
Wait for the process to complete. The translated files will then be available in your Studio project. Note: Globalese will send a notification email whenever the files of a particular target language have been pre-translated. This is because Globalese treats each language pair as a different project. You can turn off email notifications in your user profile in Globalese.
Log file location
The log file can be found in the %TEMP% directory as Globalese_Studio_<version>_LogFile.log.
From v126.96.36.199 or v188.8.131.52
Remove the existing plugin using the SDL Plugin Management tool.
Locate a folder named Globalese in your Documents directory (C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Globalese) and remove the file named GlobaleseSettings3.0.xml.
Install the new version of the plugin. This will recreate the above XML settings file to provide the configurable option for the polling frequency.
v184.108.40.206, v220.127.116.11 and v18.104.22.168
First available version for Studio 2022.
Fixed a long-standing bug where engines with similar names could be mixed up by the plugin in cases where an engine got deleted or renamed.
v22.214.171.124 and v126.96.36.199
The plugin will no longer attempt to upload files that don't have any new segments that are not locked (i.e. where there isn't anything in a file for Globalese to translate). This helps avoid getting unnecessary errors on file upload.
The log now contains the full endpoint of deleted projects to assist with debugging issues.
v188.8.131.52 and v184.108.40.206
When Globalese is deployed in the Google Cloud, Google's load balancer returns a 411 response to POST requests that don’t have a Content-Length header. This patch adds a Content-Length: 0 header to POST requests that don’t have a payload.
The Select sdlproj file field has been moved to the top, and no other fields can be filled out until the .sdlproj file is selected.
v220.127.116.11 and v18.104.22.168
The default polling frequency for files in translation has been changed to 5 seconds, with the option to change the setting. To change the polling frequency, edit the <pollingInterval> setting in C:\Users<username>\Documents\Globalese\GlobaleseSettings3.0.xml, then restart Trados Studio.
v22.214.171.124 and v126.96.36.199
The Globalese connection credentials are now stored across sessions.
